A Decade of Love

This month on the 25th, My Azwaj and I would be celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary. I can’t believe we’ve been married for a DECADE! I can still remember our first date, the day I met his parents and our wedding day. God it seems only yesterday we exchanged pictures online..lol!

Azwaj and I didn’t get engaged first. In fact we went straight from dating to marriage. I wished I had an awesome proposal or engagement story to tell but there was none. We both felt the love and we decided that the next step was marriage.

A Technical Wife

Just what is a Technical Wife, you may ask. Well it simply means that being a wife to a computer hardware guy like my hubby is, I am expected to know what is an ethernet switch, an ethernet card, a Cat 5 cable, RJ45, face plates, patch panel and media converters. Wow that was a mouthful!

It also means, I have to keep up to speed with terminology like SATA, IDE, PCI cards etc, etc, coz otherwise I would not understand half of what he’s saying and I don’t want to be excluded from any conversation or to be appear stupid when I open my mouth. Call it vanity, call it “kiasu”.. call it ME!

Anyway, they do say the way to a man’s heart is through his mind right or was it through is tummy?? I’m confused!!

What Would You Sacrifice for Love?

Love conquers all. Or so they say. Love goes beyond all boundaries and for love you leave your family and friends. For love you sacrifice everything even your own life.

How true is this sentiment? In today’s world, with self gratification being on the top of the list, is there place for love to survive.? I believe there is. I believe if love is strong, it can move mountains. If love is strong, it can move an ocean.

A true life event inspired this post. Not mine but of someone I know. She comes from a rich family. She has everything she ever wanted. She’s the pampered one in the family simply because she is the only girl. Then she fell in love. She fell in love with someone whom her father did not approve. However, she continued seeing this guy as her mother still gave her approval although it was behind her father’s back.

Her boyfriend made it to a good working position and soon impressed her father and somehow they managed to get his blessing. All went fine until the boyfriend made one stupid mistake that ended his career and put his life in shambles. She remained loyal to him and kept the whole thing a secret from her family. Her father found out and demanded that she end the relationship. She refused. Her father asked her to choose, him or her family. She chose him and left after being disowned.

Despite all the chaos and shambles going on, they got married. More problems followed because of financial matters. After three years, she swallowed her pride and called her dad for assistance. Her father was pleased. He told her that she could have everything. A house, a car, even money with one condition. Leave him. Leave her husband. She cried and hanged up after saying no.

Such is love. Such is sacrifice. Would you have been strong enough? Would your love withstand all odds and remain steadfast?

I pray for her. I pray for all couples in love.

Passionate Together

Part of being a great life partner is to share activities together. If before marriage, you love to hang out with him fishing, the kids should not be an excuse to not go with him anymore. If before marriage, you share his passion in cars, why should that stop after marriage. If you don’t know what he is talking about when he refers to a certain terminology like Chrysler 300 accessories, shouldn’t you make an effort to find out? Believe me, he’ll love you for it and he in turn will take an interest in what you are doing.

Love Being Woman

I just love being a woman. Let me re-phrased that. I love being my husband’s woman. Especially since he pampers me so. I don’t have to carry heavy stuff if I don’t want to, I don’t have to work so hard if I don’t need to and household chores like changing the lighting, curtains and cleaning the fans are all done by the loving hubs. I don’t even need to cook and clean but of course, being a “perfect” wife, I do. Lolz… don’t hate me ladies…

To Join or Not to Join

When I first got married, I heard lot of stories from married friends on managing finances. This is especially so when both parties are earning income and is already maintaining separate banking account be it a savings or a checking account. Some of them advised me to keep my personal finances personal and open up a separate joint account instead with my husband so that things don’t get too messy in case something happens to the marriage. I find this totally baseless as what is a marriage based on an assumption that “something” might go wrong? What does it say about you as husband and wife? So we both talked about it and decided that best thing was both closed our individual account and opened both a savings and a current account together. That arrangement has worked so far and we are both very happy with what we have done.

So what I’m saying here ladies is, don’t just listen to what other ladies, whether they are married or otherwise, influence you into doing something that might jeopardize your relationship with your spouse. Talk it over with each other and then decide what works and what doesn’t. In the end, you both matter, other don’t.

A Sexy Bridal Shower Gift

Me and my friends decided that the best bridal shower gift to get for a bride-to-be friend would be a selection of some sexy lingeries, perhaps some nice French chemises, babydoll nighties, teddies or even bustiers. Our friend is a very shy girl and we believe it is our responsibility (lol) to set her on the right path with regards to her wedding night. And you know what, she turned absolutely red when we presented her with the gift and refuses to accept it much less use it. After much coaxing though, she said she would try it out and get used to the idea of wearing it before the wedding. Here’s hoping for that miracle

Romancing the Stone

Similar to flowers, stones and gems have always been synonymously related to romance. Now, although my hubby is not the flower type of person, he is the stone and gem type.
