Fibroid Adventure Part 2

It ain’t Branson hotels, but it was home for three days and I guess I got to make the best of it right? The view from my room….

My second day at Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital Wad 302 on 5th January 2008 started at 5am with the nurses coming over to take my blood pressure and temperature. Next I was given a bath by two young nurses (no wonder men liked to be hospitalised eh?).

When they first brought up the bed to a sitting position, I cried out in pain as that was the first time I moved since the operation. I was told that I actually got to move around more to hasten the blood flowing out of my womb and that if I feel any pain, I’m supposed to just press on that magic button and the pain would go away. Now I know..hehehe…

Anway, the sponge bath went on for around 15minutes or so. I was asked if I wanted a cup of Milo and I graciously said yes as I had not anything to eat and only plain water to drink for the last 36hours. The nurses left as I sipped on my drink drinking from a straw. Then it started. It was either the painkiller, the effects of the not eating or drinking or the carbon dioxide that was pumped into me for the laparoscopic procedure or something else, I started feeling nauseous. I buzzed the nurse for a vomiting container or anything and they better hurry otherwise I was gonna puke on myself. They came in record time and just in the nick of time as well. I vomited every little bit of Milo that I had consumed. I was later told that it was normal.

Dr Hamidah (Dr Fauziah’s replacement) came over at around 10am to check up on me. Everything is going well and I was recovering superbly she said. No fever and blood pressure was stable. She said I could now have liquid food like porridge and they would remove the drip, the painkiller and the urine bag. The drainage bottle would remain so as to hasten the flow of excess blood in the womb.

Hubs, abah and mama came around 11am and was relieved to hear that I was recovering well. The nurses came around 3pm to remove the urine bag, the drip and the painkiller. I was then given a round of folic acid, vitamin C and painkiller pills.

The first time I got out of bed to go the toilet was torture. I was woozy and had to stop a few times along the way. Sitting on the toilet bowl was also difficult as I had to maneuver my blood drainage bottle while urinating. But it was done and over with. The rest of the day was uneventful with visit from SIL and calls from mommy in Singapore.

Sorry for the long entry and I hope I’m not boring you with details but I wanted to be detailed for my own reference. Till tomorrow…

Cheerio…
